Beyond blushing.....

I added another pink lipstick to my cosmetic collection today.
It is by L'Oreal from the Infallible range in the color Beyond Blushing #129.
It is the perfect rose pink color as is the matching lip liner pencil.

While I was in the store I also purchased a new eye shadow in green and cream shades by Australis.
I have unusual green eyes and it is very hard to find the right green shade to highlight them.
I will give these a try tomorrow and hopefully I will have no allergic reaction to them.

Wet paint.....

Isn't this a great floor idea?
If I had this floor in my home I think it would take a while before I could confidently walk straight onto it without pausing first.
Or tentatively stepping onto it with one foot and then looking under my shoe to see if there was paint under it!

Garden list 9-Ranunculus.....

Ranunculus have to be on my Italian garden list.

They have beautiful colors, come back every year and have long strong stems so I can have fresh cut flowers in the house.

I love them for their tight endless circle of petals that seem to go round and round forever.

I purchased 5 bulb packets today so I have made a start at least. At 3 bulbs per packet I only need about 50 more packets!!!!

I think these people planted a lot more than 50 packets, don't you?

What do you collect? I collect balls......

I remember that I once told a friend that I collect balls. She looked at me and said, "are they attached?"
I stared at her, laughed and said "no they are not!"

These are the balls I collect.

I started of with the black and white chequered one in the background. As with most collections once you start they can get out of hand pretty quickly.

I have limited myself to this large brown bowl which is now full.
To be honest it was full about 4 balls ago and there are a few that are just balancing there, defying gravity. When the front door closes they fall onto the coffee table and roll around but I quickly put them back in place before anyone knows I'm obsessed and gone over the limit.

Now I know that if I see a new ball that I like, I have to sacrifice one I already have to make it fit in the bowl.
It will have to be pretty special.

So it's pretty obvious that yes, I'm keeping my balls and they will be coming to Italy with me.

Unfortunately the bowl will be too heavy to pack, will probably break, will not match the new decor, etc, excuse, etc, excuse....

This means that I will have to buy my balls a new bowl that I know will be bigger, as I have heard that all the small bowls in Italy have sold out.

So with that in mind, one of these Italian Murano glass balls is on my wish list!

Garden finials......

I was out shopping today.
Not the good type of shopping but the boring supermarket food type of shopping.
Anyway I was pushing the shopping trolley full of food through the mall complex, trying to manoeuvre it in a straight line instead of the crooked zig zag direction the 3 working wheels wanted it to go in, when something in a shop window caught my eye.
It was a finial.

For those of you who don't know what a finial is: "The finial is an architectural device, typically carved in stone and employed decoratively to emphasize the apex of a gable or any of various distinctive ornaments at the top, end, or corner of a building or structure. Architectural finials were once believed to act as a deterrent to witches on broomsticks attempting to land on one's roof." (thank you Wikipedia)

I pulled the trolley to an abrupt halt and squeezed the metal beast into the store.
There they were, two of them in different designs.
I knew they weren't stone but I picked up the one with the fleur de lei tip and was pleased to find that it was made from a very heavy ceramic. Both finials had been given an aged patina finish and were quite large at about 15-20inches high.

I tipped it upside down and looked at the price.
 $55 it read.
"Shit" was my reaction. (I think I said it in my head and not out loud in the store)
I cannot justify spending $110 on two finials because of course I couldn't get one without the other.
Wait a minute. There's a red sale sign. I move my head to the side to get a better look.
75% off, today only.

YES, you will be mine (I know I did say that out loud)
Aren't they fantastic!

I can mount them on the top of the house, an arbour, fence post, potting shed etc etc

So beware witches, don't even think about landing your broomstick on my house in Italy.
I now have finials to protect me!
